Former President Donald Trump is seeking to get again on Fb.
Attorneys for Trump, who was banned from Facebook after the Jan. 6 insurrection, have written to executives of Meta requesting a gathering to debate “immediate reinstatement to the platform,” in response to a duplicate of the letter reviewed by ABC Information.
The letter, which is addressed to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and two different executives, claims the ban on Trump’s account “has dramatically distorted and inhibited the general public discourse,” and represents “a deliberate effort by a personal firm to silence Mr. Trump’s political voice.”
“Furthermore, day-after-day that President Trump’s political voice stays silenced furthers an inappropriate interference within the American political and election course of,” the letter states.
The letter doesn’t handle the explanation Trump was kicked off the platform within the first place — it does, nonetheless, notice that Trump was allowed again on Twitter. Twitter CEO Elon Musk lifted Trump’s ban on the platform in November after placing the choice as much as a ballot.
He has not used the account regardless of being unbanned, and has stated he plans to stick with TRUTH Social, the platform he based after being banned from most social media websites.
Trump was faraway from Fb in January 2021, within the wake of the riot, over considerations his posts have been inciting violence.
