New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS) To streamline energy requirement from renewable vitality sources, the federal government on Friday ordered waiver of inter-state transmission system (ISTS) fees.
ISTS fees are levied on transmission of electrical energy generated from new hydro-power initiatives. These fees have been waived for 18 years from the date of commissioning of such initiatives, official sources knowledgeable.
The federal government had declared hydro-power initiatives as renewable supply of energy in March 2019. Nevertheless, waiver of inter-state transmission fees supplied to photo voltaic and wind initiatives had not been prolonged to hydro energy initiatives, sources knowledgeable.
So as to take away this discrepancy and to supply a level-playing area to the hydro initiatives, the Energy Ministry has now determined to increase the waiver of ISTS fees on the transmission of energy from new hydro-power initiatives, for which building work is awarded and PPA is signed on or earlier than June 30, 2025.
